Ordering, shipping and returns

Where do the bikes ship from and how long does delivery take?

Orders ship from China with regional warehouse support, and delivery takes 3 to 5 business days from dispatch. Customs clearance in your country can add time on a small number of shipments.

What is your returns policy?

30 days on unused, unmodified items. The item has to come back complete and in its original packaging, and nothing on it can have been cut, rewired, reflashed or swapped. Start a return by emailing info@talariaebikechinasource.com with your order number before sending anything back.

Are you an authorized Talaria dealer?

Yes. We supply genuine Talaria machines and genuine parts, and the 12-month manufacturer warranty applies.

Batteries and charging

How long does a full charge take?

It depends on the pack capacity and the charger output, so work it out rather than guess. As a rough guide, divide the pack capacity in amp-hours by the charger output in amps to get the bulk charging time, then add extra time for the final stage, where the charger tapers current to balance the cells. A larger pack on the same charger takes proportionally longer. A higher-output charger shortens the bulk phase but produces more heat in the pack, so a fast charger is not automatically the better choice for pack life.

What charge level should I store the battery at?

For anything longer than a few days, store lithium packs part charged, around 50 to 70 percent, rather than full or empty. A pack left sitting at full charge ages faster, and a pack left flat can drop low enough to be damaged permanently. Store it somewhere dry and moderate in temperature, check it every couple of months, and top it back into that band if it has drifted down.

Any other battery habits worth keeping?

Use the charger supplied for that pack. Let a pack cool after a hard ride before you plug it in. Avoid charging below freezing. Do not leave a pack charging unattended overnight in a living space. If you are putting the bike away for a season, charge to the storage band first rather than leaving it flat.

Voltage, power and conversions

What is the difference between 60V and 72V?

Voltage sets the electrical pressure the system runs at. A 72V setup delivers more power for the same current, which usually means stronger acceleration and a higher top speed than the equivalent 60V bike. It also puts more stress on the motor, the drivetrain and the tyres, and it generates more heat.

Can I convert a 60V bike to 72V?

It is a common upgrade and kits exist for it, but it is not simply a bigger battery. The controller has to be rated for the higher voltage, the wiring and connectors have to carry the current, and the charger has to match the new pack — a stock 60V charger cannot charge a 72V pack. Doing part of the job and leaving the rest is how components get cooked. Budget for faster chain and sprocket wear afterwards, and for more heat management than the standard bike needed.

Does a conversion affect the warranty?

Yes. An aftermarket controller, a non-genuine battery, a rewired loom or a reflashed map takes the powertrain outside factory specification and voids factory powertrain coverage. Upgrade parts carry their own supplier terms; they do not extend Talaria coverage. If you want to keep the factory warranty for the first year, keep the powertrain standard for that year.

Road use

Are these bikes road legal?

It depends on the variant. The MX models are off-road machines and are not road legal. Talaria also builds road-legal variants approved to the European L1e and L3e vehicle classes.

What is the difference between L1e and L3e?

Under European rules, L1e is the light two-wheeler class covering mopeds, with the common L1e-B subcategory limited to 45 km/h and 4 kW of continuous rated power. L3e is the motorcycle class, which permits higher performance but requires the corresponding licence, registration, insurance and rider equipment. The Talaria Sting Road Legal L1E runs a 60V / 38.4Ah pack limited to around 30 mph (48 km/h); the Sting L3E Road Legal carries a larger 60V / 45Ah pack, is rated 3,500 W and reaches 53 mph (85 km/h), and is supplied with a Certificate of Conformity to L3e-A1.

Does that mean it is legal to ride on the road where I live?

Not necessarily, and this is the single most important thing to check before you buy. L1e and L3e are European approval classes. If you are outside Europe your national and local rules will differ, and even inside Europe registration, licence category, minimum rider age and where you can ride vary by country. Check with your own vehicle licensing authority before ordering. Do not assume that a bike sold as road legal in one market is road legal in yours.

Setup, parts and maintenance

Can I change the wheel sizes?

Wheel swaps are a common change, usually to alter ride height, stability or tyre availability. Before ordering a set, check the axle diameter and hub spacing, the brake disc diameter and bolt pattern, and the tyre clearance at the fork and swingarm. Remember that changing rolling diameter changes the effective gearing, the seat height and, on a road-legal machine, the speedometer calibration — a 17-inch supermoto conversion from 19-inch stock will read roughly 5 to 7 percent high until the dash is recalibrated.

How do I know when the chain and sprockets need replacing?

Replace the chain and both sprockets as a set. A worn chain will lift noticeably away from the rear sprocket when you pull it, and worn sprocket teeth take on a hooked profile. Electric dirt bikes are hard on drivetrains because full torque is available from zero, and a high-power conversion accelerates that wear considerably. Keep the chain clean, lubricated and adjusted to the slack figure in the manual, and inspect it after wet or sandy rides.

How do I make sure a part fits my bike?

Go by model code, not by appearance. Parts are listed against codes — TL2500 for the X3, TL3000 for the Sting Offroad, TL4000 for the Sting R MX4, TL45 and TL50 for the road-legal Sting trims, TL5500 for the MX5 Pro and TL6000 for the Komodo — and components can change between production runs, so the model year matters too. If there is any doubt, send us the model, the model year and the frame number, along with a photograph of the part you are replacing, and we will confirm fitment before you order.

Can I ride in the rain or pressure wash the bike?

Rain and wet trails are fine. Deep water crossings and pressure washing are not. Water forced past seals, bearings, connectors and into the battery compartment causes corrosion and electrical faults, and water damage is not a manufacturing defect, so it is not covered by warranty. Wash at low pressure, keep the jet away from seals and electrical connections, and dry the machine afterwards.

Choosing a model

Should I buy the Sting MX3, the Sting R MX4 or the Sting MX5 Pro?

All three run the same basic Sting chassis and differ in power and pack. The Sting MX3 is the entry point: a 60V PMSM motor rated 6 kW peak with a 38.4Ah pack and a 47+ mph (75+ km/h) top speed. The Sting R MX4 steps up to an IPM motor rated 4,000 W continuous and 8,000 W peak on a larger 45Ah pack, good for 53 mph (85 km/h) and up to 75 mi (120 km) at a 16 mph cruise. The Sting MX5 Pro moves to 72V and 13.4 kW peak, delivering 500 N·m at the rear wheel and 55+ mph (88+ km/h) unrestricted.

Choose on rider weight, experience and terrain rather than on peak figures alone. Power you cannot yet use is wasted, and it wears out chains, sprockets and tyres faster.
