The controller is where an electric dirt bike is actually tuned. Everything else on this page is either something that failed and needs replacing, or something that has to keep up once the controller changes.
Controller upgrades
A Talaria controller upgrade is the highest-value performance modification available, because the stock FOC sine-wave unit is deliberately conservative. The EBMX X-9000 is the established choice for the Sting platform and pairs with a 60V or 72V power kit. The Nucular Electronics controller for the MX3 and MX4 is a further step again — far more programmable, and aimed at riders who want to shape torque delivery rather than simply have more of it.
Two cautions worth reading before you buy. First, more current means more heat: a controller heat sink is not optional on a hard-ridden bike. Second, a controller change usually voids the manufacturer warranty on the drivetrain. We would rather tell you that now than after the fact.
Displays and speedometers
Replacement displays for the Sting R and the wider Sting range, plus guards for the speedometer assembly. Displays are one of the more common failures on a bike that lives outdoors, and a cracked screen is rarely worth trying to repair.
Throttle, sensors and conversion
Right-hand electronic throttle assemblies fit TL45, Sting R, X3 and MX platforms — a common wear item, and a common cause of inconsistent power delivery that gets blamed on the battery. Hall effect sensors and DC-DC converters cover the rest of the low-voltage side.
Lighting
OEM headlight and tail light assemblies, plus front indicators for TL45. If you are running a road-legal L1E or L3E trim, keep lighting to OEM specification — it is part of what the homologation covers.
