Manitou Dorado Expert Fork — Talaria Upgrade

The Dorado Expert comes from the same fork family Manitou builds for competitive downhill, and Talaria specifies it on the MX Expert Edition trim — which means the fitment is factory-proven rather than adapted. Sold on its own here for owners moving up from a stock RST or FastAce front end, or replacing a Dorado damaged in a crash.

Two things define how it rides. The dual-crown layout clamps the stanchions above and below the head tube, which is where the steering rigidity at speed comes from. The air spring, set with a shock pump to rider weight, works alongside external compression and rebound clickers on each leg, so spring rate and damping are tuned independently. Stanchion diameter and travel are standard Dorado spec.

Fitting is an advanced job: bars off, brake line clip released, wheel out, old fork unbolted and the Dorado installed with a matching yoke set. Allow two to three hours with a torque wrench, hex keys, a soft-jaw vice and a shock pump. Start air pressure from Manitou's rider-weight chart in the Dorado service manual, set both clickers mid-range and refine after the first ride. Anyone converting from RST or FastAce hardware needs the Dorado-spec yoke, sold separately; bikes that came with the Dorado already have it.

Servicing matters on a fork this adjustable. Check air pressure every ride or two, refresh oil and seals annually if the bike sees regular use, and have the damper rebuilt roughly every 100 hours of hard riding by Manitou or a certified suspension shop.
