How to choose an electric dirt bike from the Talaria range
An electric dirt bike removes almost everything that makes a petrol 250 hard to live with. There is no clutch, no gearbox to hunt through and no warm-up: full torque arrives at zero rpm, the machine runs near-silent, and a complete Talaria weighs 35–40% less than a comparable petrol bike — from 53 kg (117 lb) at the light end of the range. For most riders that translates into a bike that is easier to learn on and far cheaper to keep running.
The four platforms, and who each one suits
60V Sting — the entry point and the best electric dirt bike for adults coming from a trail or trials background. The Sting MX3 makes 6 kW peak and is limited to 47+ mph; the Sting R MX4 steps up to 8 kW and carries a 45Ah LG 21700 pack that returns up to 75 miles on a steady cruise — the longest legs in the whole range.
72V MX5 Pro — 13.4 kW peak and 500 N·m at the rear wheel on a 40Ah Samsung 50S pack. This is the bike for riders who already know what they want from an electric dirt bike and have run out of road on a 60V machine.
88V Dragon and 96V Komodo — the top of the range. The Komodo makes 32 kW (43 hp) and 754 N·m through a sealed gearbox; the Dragon tops out at 70 mph. These are full-size, high-output machines, not a first bike.
X3 and Junior — the supermoto-flavoured X3 line, and the Junior 12 and 16 for younger riders who need a smaller frame and a lower seat.
Road legal or off-road only?
Most of the range is off-road. If you need plates, the Sting is also built in road-legal L1E and L3E trims that ship with registration paperwork; the L1E is speed-limited to around 30 mph for its vehicle class. Everything else on this page is intended for private land, tracks and trails.
